Buskerfest

Kick off autumn at one of these fun-filled (and mostly FREE) fall festivals in and around the GTA. Annual family favourites abound this month, including top September picks like Buskerfest, Toronto's Rib, Bacon & BBQ Fest, Brooks Fall Festival, Cabbagetown Festival and many more. So banish the back-to-school blues by hitting one (or more!) of these kid-friendly fetes this September.

Canadian National Exhibition (CNE)
August 17, 2018 to September 3, 2018
Canada’s largest fair, the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), is gearing up for another fun-filled season, August 17 to September 3, 2018. All of the mainstays of Toronto’s beloved end-of-summer tradition are back from the Midway games to The Farm and Sky Ride. Also returning are the SuperDogs, Canadian International Air Show, Waterfront Show and the Aerial Acrobatics & Ice Skating Show.

Toronto's Rib, Bacon & BBQ Fest

The largest epilepsy awareness event, Toronto International BuskerFest for Epilepsy, is proud to announce the addition of Canada’s largest comfort food festival, The Mac and Cheese Festival, as they fuse together this year in Woodbine Park in The Beach. The two festival giants will be serving up top dishes from renowned chefs alongside non-stop, action-packed, entertainment. Free admission. Donations accepted.

Corn Roast, Market and Heritage Fair at Montgomery's Inn
September 6, 2018
Visit the Inn for fresh corn cooked in the outdoor bake oven, live music, children's activities and displays from west-end heritage organizations. Explore the newly restored museum on a guided tour. Don't forget your lawn chairs! Free.

Honey Harvest Festival at Kortright
September 15, 2018
Kick off Kortright Centre’s 3rd annual Honey Harvest Festival with a trail race — and enjoy a shot of honey at the finish line! The race features a challenging 7 km trail run, as well as a 3 km walk/run and a 1 km kids run. Come out and experience the health benefits of physical activity in the great outdoors at our scenic 550-acre property. Proceeds from the run will support bee habitat conservation and educational programs. Your race entry fees include festival admission. Roncesvalles Polish Festival

The Roncesvalles Polish Festival is North America's largest celebration of Polish culture. Over two days, visitors see some of the best Polish bands and dance groups from across Canada and the United States. Activities along Roncesvalles Avenue include multiple stages of  live music and dance, cultural displays, Polish and international foods, crafts vendors, extended restaurant patios, beverage gardens, buskers, and kids rides. City Cider at Spadina Museum
September 16, 2018
At City Cider you will picnic on the lush lawns surrounded by gardens, enjoy a hard cider bar from Ontario Cideries, listen to local music, and enjoy a wide variety of lawn games and kids activities (tree rapelling included!). We also invite you to join us in hand-pressing over 500 lbs of apples to turn them into delicious fresh cider. New this September is the first annual Apple Harvest Festival, Presented by Brickworks Cider. Happening at the Saturday Farmers Market and Sunday Artisan Market, this free festival is the newest way to celebrate local Ontario apples this fall. On Saturday we will be focusing on the great food and drink you can create with tasty Ontario apples, and Sunday will be a day for family fun! There will be no apple picking at this event, but vendors will have locally grown Ontario apples for sale. Free admission.

The Word on the Street

The Word On The Street, Canada's largest free outdoor book and magazine festival. Now in its 29th year, the festival celebrates Canadian literature and literacy by showcasing some of the country's top authors and offers a variety of author and industry panels, book signings, workshops, and a book and magazine marketplace featuring 200+ vendors.  As in past years, the Festival invites families to participate in fun and interactive programs with some of Canada's distinguished children's authors. Toronto Oktoberfest
