Na-Me-Res Traditional Outdoor Pow Wow at Fort York

Description

Native Men’s Residence Traditional Pow Wow is held to recognize National Aboriginal Day on the Summer Solstice. The event features traditional dancing, drumming, kid's area, craft vendors, and a full feast after the dancing. Seven Aboriginal drum groups will be on hand, including host drum Eagle Flight Singers and co-host drum Young Creek. Over 100 traditional dancers are expected to participate including head dancers Breanna Olsen and Matt Rutledge. The day begins with a sunrise ceremony at 6 a.m., the Grand Entry takes place at 12 p.m., and the community feast will begin shortly after 4:30 p.m.
