Power Kids: Free Kids Activities

This event occurs weekly, on Sunday.


These FREE arts workshops for children ages 7-12 begin with a tour of the gallery and conclude with an art activity, inspired by the ideas behind the current exhibition. Tours and workshops are led by Amanda Foulds, Power Kids Family Programs Coordinator and assisted by Erica Cristobal, Power Kids Teaching Assistant.

Join Power Kids as we explore 2D portraits with 3D elements such as fabric, zippers, buttons and more.

Extraordinary Realms
Join us on Family Day to explore drawing and collage. In this workshop, participants will decorate a mini 3D-globe depicting their own imaginary world.

Shapes in the Shadows
In this workshop, draw animal portraits on black paper using pencil crayons and chalk pastels.

Monster Mashups
In this workshop, participants will use clay and paint to create a sculpture of their own monster.

Making Friends
In this workshop, participants will design and create a cloth figure of someone special in their community.

Show Your Spots
Participants in this workshop are invited to transform themselves into an animal by making a mask using paper, fabric and other mixed media.

On the Map
In this workshop, each participant in this workshop will draw a bird’s-eye view of their community that connects with their neighbour’s drawing. Once complete, the whole drawing will be photographed and then cut up so each individual can take home their illustrated section.
