Sweet Water Demonstrations at Crawford Lake

Date/Time

Feb 29, 2020 to Mar 31, 2020
10:00 AM until 4:00 PM

Description

Visit the reconstructed 15th century Longhouse Village and learn how maple sugar was discovered and made by Indigeous people 600 years ago as you take in an interactive (and edible!) Sweet Water demonstration. Then journey over to the Deer Clan Longhouse gallery to take in the First Harvest exhibit, an exploration of Indigenous maple sugaring from past to present.

Enjoy a sample of delicious taffy on snow, an Indigenous treat, or try a tasting flight of different grades and types of syrup before heading to the giftshop to pick up a tasty souvenir.

Finally, work off all the sweet treats with a walk around the boardwalk surrounding Crawford Lake’s rare meromictic lake. Kids will love discovering stunning chainsaw sculptures of some of Ontario’s species at risk along the way!

Weekends, March Break and holidays. Feb 29th - Apr 5th from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm.
