The Progressive Centre Virtual Summer Camps

The Progressive Centre is offering Virtual Summer Camps! Join us this summer for a unique summer camp experience.

Parents! Are you looking for something fun and engaging for your kids to do this summer? Sign them up in one of our virtual camps. We have something for every child. Do you have a budding writer? Or a young Picasso? What about a book worm or a French enthusiast? Our classes are capped at 10 kids and will challenge their thinking, develop key academic skills, and build lasting friendships!


Plan, Prompt, Write
Groups available for Grades 4 to 8 and Grades 9 to 12

Do you have a  young, inspiring writer? This camp will help your child to develop their ideas to create wonderfully, written compositions. Each session will focus on a different theme allowing each participant the opportunity to develop a piece of writing. 

4 Sessions available from July 6 to August 28

Reading Silenced Voices
Groups available for Junior - Grades 4 - 6, Intermediate - Grades 7 - 8  and High School - Grades 9 - 12.

During this camp, participants will read books from authors  who represent marginalized communities. Students will engage in deep discussions with their peers on a variety of themes. Each week students will read a different book and engage in daily group discussions and literary analyses.  All books can be purchased from A Different Booklist online or through curb-side pickup. Note: Booklist TBD

8 Sessions available from July 6 to August 28

Parlez vous Francais
Groups available for Grades 1 - 3 and Grades 4 - 6.

Do you have a student that would like to hone in on their French skills?  This camp will provide both primary and junior level students with extra language development in French. Perfect for students who are in Extended French or French Immersion programs. Students will work on developing key vocabulary, reading and writing skills.

4 Sessions available from July 6 to August 28.

Art 101
Groups available for Grades 4 to 8 and Grades 9 to 12.

Do you have a budding artist? The next Picasso? In this camp, students will get guided assistance from a local artist. Each session will examine a different style of art which will give students the opportunity to develop necessary skills and receive feedback from their instructor and peers. Note: Parents will be responsible for purchasing necessary art supplies for this course.

What's the Point of Math?
Group available for Grades 4 to 8.

During this camp, students will examine how math is used in our everyday lives. Students will learn about the history of math and how math plays an essential part of our life.

How to Become a Better Student

In this camp, students are introduced to methods that will help them become a better student. During this session, students will learn how to effectively use their learning styles and apply valuable executive functioning skills to their academic life. This camp is great for students transitioning to high school or post secondary education.
