GTA Photography Summer Camp
Photography is a fun and interactive way to give your brain good work-out and it is actually a great tool to help exercise both the left-brain (used for academics and logical thinking) and right-brain (used for artistic and creative thinking). GTA Photography offers a variety of summer camp programs for kids and teens, ages 8 to 18, designed to help get that brain running! Professional photographers teach all the programs and they ensure a high instructor to camper ratio (1:6 for Kids, 1:8 for Teens) so everyone gets the attention they need.
If the name of the camp sounds familiar, you may have seen them on CBC Kids’ photography-themed TV show, “Snapshots”, which debuted in Fall 2016. GTA Photography camp instructors were mentors and judges on the show. The focus of the camp is experiential learning through organized daily field trips, so that campers get a chance to explore the city and get hands on experience as photographers.
Here is a quick breakdown of the programs they offer:
Kids Camp 1 & 2 is perfect for those between ages 8 to 12. Campers will be introduced to their cameras and all the fun things they can do with them. Interactive activities and projects will help them to be as creative as they want to.
Teens ages 13 to 18 have a variety of different programs to choose from, including Teen Camp 1 & 2, Fashion, Editing, Street & Documentary and Sport & Action! Teen Camp 1 & 2 will help campers understand photography basics, techniques and to confidently use their cameras in manual mode.
Street & Documentary, Sport & Action and Fashion Camp are specialized programs that work to develop skills in specific areas of photography. From going to sports games to working with professional models, their programs are unique and hands-on.
Also available this summer is Editing Camp, a technical program created to help campers learn about industry-standard photography editing software! The program will introduce teens to both Lightroom & Photoshop by covering all the key tools and creative adjustments in each program.
For those looking to get more serious about photography and looking for leadership training, they also offer Teen Camp 3, which focuses on portfolio development, and CIT/LIT Program (Counselor/Leader in Training). Both these programs are designed for teens ages 15 to 18, with a goal to help prepare them for a post-secondary education in the arts.
Be ready to introduce a new family photographer to the house this summer!
