The Natrel Rink at Harbourfront

Every once in awhile, you come across a great place to hang with the kids. This winter, make it the Natrel Rink at Harbourfront. Harbourfront Centre’s Natrel Rink is a popular skating destination in the heart of the city. It’s fun, it’s great exercise, and best of all it’s free!

The beautiful Natrel Rink is located along the scenic shores of Lake Ontario at 235 Queens Quay West, offering spectacular views. It's a popular skating destination in the heart of the city. Visitors can enjoy our artificially-cooled outdoor rink while skating to music and taking in the beautiful surroundings of Lake Ontario and the Toronto Islands. On-site skate rentals, helmet rentals, change rooms, rental lockers and skate sharpening are available.

In addition to recreational skating, you can learn from the pros during "Learn to Skate" sessions. Did you know Harbourfront offers over 100 special courses designed for children, teens, and adults, along with private and group lessons and drop-in clinics? Each 4 week session teaches participants basic ice-skating techniques including balance, starting, stopping, pivots, and crossovers (based on individual progress and skating ability). Make this the winter you learn to skate! For complete "Learn to Skate" schedule, click here.

After lessons, you’ll be an expert, ready to boogie in skates on those DJ skate nights. It’s a hotspot every Saturday night (until February 25) where skaters can rock the ice to top DJs spinning the hottest tunes. The events run from 8:00PM to 11:00PM.

And mark your calendars for the next big event for kids – that takes place on the ice! It’s a HarbourKIDS Skating Festival, presented by RBC Play Hockey, which takes place February 17 and 18, 2013. Harbourfront Centre’s Family Day weekend is the place to be for kids of all ages. This annual two-day festival celebrates all things skating with special on-ice performances by Le Patin Libre, concerts, theatre, interactive activities, and much more.

If you feel the chill of winter on these family skating jaunts, warm your fingers and toes at the outdoor, staff-controlled fire pits or grab a quick bite at the Lakeside Eats restaurant right next to the rink!

Enjoy gourmet coffee and hot chocolate in between ice time.

Skate seven days a week on the city's winter gem by the lake! The rink opens from November 17, 2012 to March 10, 2013 – Daily, 10:00AM–10:00PM; Friday and Saturday to 11:00PM (weather-permitting). Admission is free! Much to the relief of parents, there is an indoor change room with lockers and washrooms.
