On Pointe: The Rise of the Ballet Shoe

On Pointe captures the exacting and exquisite art of ballet through one of its most essential elements, the ballet shoe. The exhibition will feature approximately 50 artifacts drawn from the Museum's private collection as well as historical and contemporary examples on loan from The Shoe Room, the principal supplier of pointe shoes in Canada. Highlights include: A pair of ballet slippers worn by Marie Taglioni, considered the first ballet dancer to dance on pointe (on loan from the Musée de l'Opera Garnier and the French National Library in Paris), Beautiful contemporary and historical imagery, Video footage illustrating gruelling practice and glittering perfomance Ballet shoes worn by famous dancers, including Karen Kain, Margot Fonteyn, Carla Fracci and Rudolf Nureyev.

Anne of Green Gables: A Canadian Icon at 100 – An Exhibit

This is a new exhibit celebrating Lucy Maude Montgomery's Canadian classic, curated by Irene Gammel at the Modern Literature and Culture Research Center at Ryerson University. This exhibit presents the surprising and diverse inspirations that gave birth to the big-eyed, freckle-faced iconic redhead known around the world, Anne of Green Gables. Included with regular admission. Regular Admission: Adults $5.66*, Seniors & Youths $4.72*, Children $3.77* (*plus GST). Paid parking at Casa Loma.
