Educational and Interactive Programs

Discover the World of Reptiles!

The educational programs that Reptilia will provide for your students are tightly linked to the science and technology curriculum. Our presentations introduce and reinforce the concepts that students are learning in class.

We use a multidisciplinary approach which touches on concepts learned in one or more of the major strands of science and technology outlined in the curriculum. In doing so, we can teach students how these strands of science and technology relate to each other and the ways in which their new found knowledge can be applied to the world outside the classroom. The dynamic and captivating reptiles and amphibians we bring into your classroom will increase your students’ interest in learning; thereby, increasing the richness of their educational experience.

Programs for Pre-Schoolers
We have provided educational and entertaining programming for well over 100 day care centres and pre-school groups. Your children will never forget their first encounter with a Bearded Dragon or an Alligator! The educational programs that Reptilia provides for young children focus on relating the animal to the child. We give young people a look into the wonderful world of nature through the eyes of reptiles and amphibians. Our pre-school programs focus on the diet, characteristics, and behaviour of the reptiles and amphibians. Children get to touch lizards, turtles, crocodilians, and snakes while learning about them and the way they live.

Elementary School Programs
As with all other educational programs provided by Reptilia, programs for elementary schools are directly linked to the Ontario curriculum. We offer programs for students in grades 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Reptilia's After School Programs
Reptilia's extra curricular programs can be taught as an after school program or a lunch time program. Each session is approximately 60 minutes in length. Children participating in these programs will have the opportunity to interact with and learn about reptiles and amphibians. They will gain an advantage in the classroom because the sessions will focus on topics they are expected to learn about in class. For example, they will learn about the characteristics of reptiles and amphibians, the life cycles of these animals, and more. Subject material is chosen based upon the age range of students participating to ensure overlap with the science and technology curriculum. However, we will use reptiles to teach them about these concepts in a fun and interactive manner that will enrich their learning experience.
