A Summer Camp Community...
Centauri Summer Camp is a thrilling arts community which brings together some of the most talented teachers in Canada to educate and inspire young people from near and far! Located on the picturesque Niagara escarpment, our facility includes indoor and outdoor theatres, rehearsal halls and tents, well equipped music and art rooms, photography lab, dance studio, writer's lounge and creatively decorated dorm rooms. Centauri is home to 140 boys and girls aged 9-18. While many rside in the Toronto area, others attend from across Canada and the States, or as far away as Mexico, Italy, England, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Campers can stay with us for as a little as one session (11-14 days) or for the entire 7 weeks of the summer.

Centauri meets the needs of young people with specialised interests in the arts. Campers choose their arts focus before attending camp... from a long list which includes Theatre, Art, Photography, Ballet, Hip Hop, Jazz, Stage Combat, Clowning, Shakespeare, Improvisation, Musical Theatre, Song Writing, Creative Writing, Film, Greek Theatre and Canadian Theatre. While some of our programs are general interest, others are suited to more experienced young people with a background in the arts. Performance programs emphasise ensemble approaches so that all campers have an equal opportunity to learn. In addition to four hours daily in their chosen specialty, campers choose arts and sports electives each afternoon, so their summer can be as specialised or as varied as they wish.

Festivals, Banquets, Evening Programs, Day Trips & More!
When you bring together young people with creative interests, and a talented and nurturing staff, the result is a caring community where boundless imagination leads to exciting evening activities and memorable festivals! Each session, we host a cultural banquet, where all of us are transported to Japan, or India, or Mexico... exploring dances, folk stories, theatre, costume and - of course - the food! Special Festivals in past years have also included Adventures in Narnia, and a Day in Hogwarts. From 60s suppers to Jazz Cafes, talent shows to an evening of Robert Munsch, the fun is endless.

Centauri... A Place to Grow
What our campers mention first when they talk about their experiences with us is the sense of community, fellowship and friendship they experience at Centauri... and that is what makes Centauri a great choice for younger children experiencing overnight camp for the first time. Our dorm counsellors are all 19 or over, and are chosen for their compassion and integrity. Most return to us year after year. For younger campers we offer special activities and an even higher counsellor ratio to ensure they grow in confidence and self-esteem throughout their camp experience. We run an exciting multi-arts adventure: C.R.E.A.T.E! - designed to give 9-12 year olds a rounded experience of the arts. Other special activities for younger children include Victorian tea parties, puppet shows, parties, scavenger hunts and a special bedtime program with music and stories.
