SEMINARS & WORKSHOPS

PUPPY POINTS SEMINAR
Nipping? Biting? Barking? Chewing? Your dog that is, not you. You're not alone, so join Who's Walking Who for their seminar on puppy behavior, especially the biggie: HOUSETRAINING. Also, you'll learn about pack leaders, canine nutrition, and crate training. A must for all humans who are thinking about, or have a new four-legged addition to the family. Leave your puppy at home - the trainers will need your undivided attention, and you'll need to be free to ask questions and to talk to others who are new puppy owners like you.

OBEDIENCE CLASSES

PUPPY PRE-SCHOOL
Think of this course as kindergarten for puppies. Puppy Pre-School socializes your puppy with other young puppies. You and your pup will have the opportunity to meet other people and their pets, and build your confidence in being around new people and dogs. Lunch pails aren't necessary, but bring your favourite dog treats, as this is the best way to ensure that your puppy has fun. You'll begin to learn how to teach commands like "sit", "down" and "come", as well as the proper way to trim your puppy's nails and brush his teeth. Wear old clothes, because you'll be on the floor, playing with your puppy's feet, checking their teeth, and in general just being plain goofy with your pooch. Make sure you also check out Puppy Gymboree by clicking onto Schedules and Pricing....a ton of fun for your pup !!

FAMILY DOG
Family Dog is for all beginner dogs, who have had no formal training or need a refresher. Family Dog is a must for anyone who expects to play in a park off leash. In this class, you'll learn the basics - Heel, Sit, Stay, Down, Come, (I knew a dog named Heel once. Big Trouble.) Socialization with other dogs, and learning these commands with their new buddies is also an important factor in Family Dog. And, this is not a competition. It is a chance for you and your pet to meet new friends (both with two legs, and four legs), most who continue on to the other advanced classes.

STEP AHEAD
This is an advanced obedience course geared toward pet owners. It is designed for those dogs owners that want precision work, but done in a fun way. That would mean you, unless there are any dogs reading this. Fast-paced and fun, covering "Stand" for exam, "Down" at a distance, "Finish", automatic "Sit", "Around Finish", and lots of continuing work on "Heel". We also work on hand signals and verbal only instruction for our dogs. Think of Step Ahead as street-proofing for you and your dog. You'll brush up on some of the things you've learned in Family Dog (more distraction work), as well as work on greater control off-leash.

PRACTICAL LIVING
Practical Living is just that.....living in the real world with your dog. This can be taken at anytime after the completion of Family Dog (or equivalent at another school). We will start to use your basic obedience words and put them into the context of your everyday life. Things like "go to place", where your dog will learn to go and lie down on his mat, or having your dog sit or lie down beside you while you are reading the paper on an outdoor pation. Who doesnt like that concept :) In Practical Living the emphasis is on working around distraction and ensuring your dog has good manners. Long gone will be the days where he jumps up at his food bowl or bolts out the doors before you.

OTHER FUN STUFF

TRIX ARE 4 DOGS
This popular course puts to use the methods and theories you learned in the Clicker Seminar and helps build a bond with your dog by teaching tricks like " Take A Bow", "Spin", "Roll Over", "Beg", "Sleep", and "Wave Hello".

AGILITY
The ultimate in canine sports! Both you and your dog are in for quite a workout. Agility is a sport that allows mixed breeds to compete along with purebreds for a title. Agility also requires you as the handler to think on your feet - which sounds easy enough, except you hardly ever stand still in Agility. Over hurdles, through tunnels, up and down a 6-foot A-frame at blistering speeds, over the teeter-totter, through the tire... WHEW! I'm tired just reading this.

POWER PLAY
In this course, we'll teach you how to teach your dog to retrieve a ball, and give you the necessary fundamentals to play frisbee.

BEHAVIOURAL CONSULTATION
Just like people, every dog has a different personality. If you and your dog aren't, well, exactly seeing eye-to-eye, don't fret. We can help. A Who's Walking Who trainer will come to your home for an initial consultation. Most times, it is just understanding the needs of the dog, and determining why dogs do the things they do. We'll visit you at home, and develop a plan of action. Basically, we'll be your dog's guidance counsellor.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Of course, our trainers are also available for personal consultation. If you and your pet would like to spend some quality time at our training facility in Ajax, you can receive personalized instruction on all types of obedience. Maybe you just want to have a few lessons before an obedience trial, or work on the weave poles before an agility match. Who's Walking Who will schedule a convenient time with you for personalized training.
