EHS has been serving the Etobicoke community since 1987 as an all-volunteer, registered charity. Registered Charity #131167629RR0001.

EHS has a variety of service programs, including:
. dog and cat adoption and fostering (cats are at our Royal York cat shelter, while dogs are in foster homes, pending permanent adoption)
. cruelty investigation;
. humane education workshops
. wildlife information and referral

We support our organization and share our mission through additional programs such as fundraising, public relations, membership and a quarterly newsletter "Contact."

Before adoption, all of our cats and dogs are vet-checked, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed or neutered; if too young for spay/neuter at time of adoption, adopters receive a gift certificate for discount on a future spay/neuter.

EHS does not euthanise any animal due to lack of space, taking in only those animals for which we have room in our shelter or foster program.

EHS does not allow any animal to be used for research.

EHS is not part of the Toronto Humane Society, nor is it affiliated with Toronto Animal Services.

EHS operates strictly on donations and our own fundraising efforts.

EHS is an independent affiliate of the Ontario SPCA and a member of Candian Federation of Humane Societies (CFHS).
