Music Soup Wins the Juno!

Independent artist Jen Gould wins Children’s Album of the Year.

Jen Gould is thrilled and genuinely surprised to have won the Juno for Children’s Album of the Year. The announcement was made at Saturday’s Juno Gala Dinner & Awards, along with a number of other categories. Jen was up against the Doodlebops, Daniel Cook, Eddie Douglas and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. As an independent artist who released this first album just over a year ago, Jen was completely caught off guard by the win.

The key to the success of Music Soup is that it offers up something that appeals to both parents and kids alike. It’s honest and catchy, and doesn’t require any gimmicks or costumes. Children beg repeatedly to hear hits like ‘There’s a Monster in My Closet’, ‘Gina Meana’ and ‘Yummy In My Tummy’ and the parents surprisingly never tire of it.

Jen Gould is the only nominee in this category who wrote and composed her own music and lyrics, which is a great achievement and largely contributes to the rave reviews it has received, not to mention the win for Children’s Album of the Year. In addition, Music Soup and all of its 17 songs was produced by Emmy-nominated and Gemini Award Winner Ari Posner.

A former lead at the Stratford Festival, Jen Gould is no stranger to the stage. She will be performing at the upcoming Green Toronto Festival in Toronto on May 24th, and the Ottawa’s Children’s Music Festival later that same week.

Music Soup can be purchased online at www.jengouldmusic.com, itunes, global, cdbaby, indigo, hmv, rhapsody and emusic; at children’s shops in Toronto, Winnipeg and Ottawa, and nationally at Indigo/Chapters.
