Monster Jam at Rogers Centre

By: Toronto4Kids

It's the return of the world's most famous trucks with their gigantic tires, towering bodywork and outrageously powerful engines! This past weekend, the Rogers Centre hosted the 16th annual Monster Jam - an event that provided rip-roaring entertainment, loud enough to blow the roof off the dome!

These giant monster trucks competed with a thrilling, car-crashing frenzy. With their massive wheels, 10,000 lb. bodies and 1,500 HP motors, they were ready to cause major destruction while flying and flipping, and looking to flatten anything in their way ... to the delight of the audience! They were zooming around like madmen, slipping, sliding and jumping, in order to smash cars and other things into tiny scraps! Old favourites such as Grave Digger, Predator and Godzilla were on hand to entertain the spectators. Clearly, the crowd favourite and reigning World Champion, was Grave Digger, who came out on top as Sunday's winner in the both the competition and freestyle rounds.

Other highlights from the show included the Street Warrior Competitions - 4x4 truck racing and Freestyle Motorcross, where the audience had the opportunity to watch some top Supercross riders leap into the air with jumps, twists and turns in one of the word's most popular and exciting off-road motorcross racing. Some very cute miniature remote-control monster trucks also entertained the kids during intermission, taking on those giant ramps and mounds of dirt … just like the big trucks!

If you enjoy fun truck battles, check out a future show. Monster Jam is an annual event which usually takes place in January, at the Rogers Centre. You can visit the events section of www.rogerscentre.com for updates or you can also visit www.ushra.com for more information on Monster Jam.
