Ontario Place - What's happening in Summer '08
By: Toronto4Kids Ontario Place, one of Toronto's landmark attractions, is located on three man-made islands on Lake Ontario. This summer, make your way to Ontario Place to enjoy waterslides, movies, shows, and amusement park rides. Ontario Place features some great exhilarating attractions for kids and adults alike!
Adventure Island is home to some fun and amusing play areas. You'll be impressive by the towering H20 Generation Station. As the largest soft climbing structure of its kind in Canada, H20 is every child's fantasy only super sized. It offers endless towers and tunnels, twisting slides that reach the sky, ball pits, mazes, covered walkways, mirrors, obstacles, climbing challenges and more. The O.P. Driving School delivers "grown-up" fun for kids. "Real streets" with "real traffic lights & signs" but more remarkably "real electric cars" allow kids to learn to drive, steer, accelerate and brake.
Another highlight of the Park is Atom Blaster, with exciting, thrilling and free for all action! Giant canons, volcanoes, ball fountains, and huge particle collector vaccums, allow you to collect, suck up, shoot and blast colourful foam balls in crazy directions from 2 levels and other various platforms. Everyone is a target so load up your ammo and go wild! If you can't take the noise, the foam balls and the shooting action, parents and younger children can take cover behind long plastic shields, while watching the fun. This interactive attraction is one not to be missed.
And for tiny tots, there's MicroKids; a safe zone just for toddlers full of colourful foam animals, funky mats, a ball pit, tiny slides and tubes with plenty of space to crawl and bounce in.
Other family attractions include: First Flight where kids can board a replica hot-air balloon; Free Fall is a mini version of a drop tower thrill ride; Super Slide is a 90 feet slide where kids can race madly to the bottom; and Pedal Boat Adventure allows for a relaxing and tranquil way to see Ontario Place.
And for those seeking a few more thrilling adventures, there's the Wilderness Adventure Ride, the world's largest fully animated waterfall ride that takes visitors through the scenic forests and canyons of 'Northern Ontario'. Or try the Bumper Boats for leisurely fun or fast and furious action!
Seasonal attractions for 2008 include:
Ecozone featured in the F/X Adventure Theatre allows you to see the world from the eyes of a frog or a dolphin. Experience planet earth from a different point of view!
The Canada Dry Festival of Fire, a spectacular on-water fireworks series takes place for four nights (June & July) this summer. Ontario Place will light up the Toronto waterfront with dazzling fireworks displays choreographed to the world's best music.
And summer of 2008 offers continuous top notch entertainment with kids' faves such as Barney, Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends, Angelina Ballerina, Toopy & Binoo, Pokemon Characters and many more!
The world's first permanent IMAX® theatre presents a variety of IMAX® films including the newest film, Dinosaurs, Giants of Patagonia on a spectacular 6 storey screen with 24,000 watts of digital surround sound. Take a trip back in time 65 million years ago to meet some some amazing and rare dinosaurs.
And continuing again this season, Ontario Place offers a guaranteed Weather Pass. If it rains continuously for one hour during park operating hours, you will receive a free voucher for a return visit. This is reassuring to know given the amount of rain we've had this year!
