Then wrap your 10” box with polka dot paper 2 5/8” high - overlapping and trimming where necessary, making sure to match the dots where there is a seam – corners are best. Glue paper to box. Wrap with ribbon and run through a Xyron® Create-a-sticker 150 with permanent adhesive. If you have a gap in your ribbon, don’t worry; add black and white flowers and two black flowers to fill in gap. Adhere the fnished box to the bottom black scalloped paper with glue.
2. Striped Layer: Repeat the above process with the 8” box, using striped paper 3 1/2” high, covering seams in the middle with 2/8” strip of striped paper, but show reverse side out (white with black stripe). This layer should look like it is a wrapped gift. Attach box to previous layer with glue dots. Create ribbon bows: cut black with white polka dot ribbon to 27” long and create a bow - tie in center with black 3/8” ribbon and attach with a glue dot to the centre of the bottom layer where the bottom and next layer meet; repeat for all four sides. Create four 2 1/2” red pinwheels and attach to the corners.
3. Black Castle Wall Layer: Cut two pieces of black card stock, each 3 ½” high x 12” long. Along the top, cut out alternate 1/2” squares so that the top forms a dental molding/castle wall top. Fold each piece in half and adhere to foam square with glue. Cut out “doors” from white card stock 1 3/8” wide x 2 1/5” wide. Trim the top with a circle cutter. Attach to the “castle walls” with glue.
4. Oval Topper: You will be covering your oval tissue box. Trim a piece of scalloped white card stock 1 1/2” high x 12” long. You will need a second piece at least 6” long to fill out the full oval. Match and attach to top 1” of container with glue. Cut out a piece of polka dot paper 12” wide x 5 1/16” tall. Attach with glue around outside edges. Cut another piece of polka dot paper 5 1/16” x 7 3/4” and attach edge-to-edge (the narrow part of the oval) to oval container - overlapping previous paper. Match dots if you wish, or reverse paper for variety. Cover seam with contrasting paper or ribbon 4 1/2” high x 1” and the other x 3 /16”. Cut out “door” – black paper 3 1/5” x 4” with top cut out in alternating 1/2” squares – inside door is 3” tall x 1 3/8” wide (rounded at top with circle cutter). Adhere to oval with glue dots. Adhere grosgrain ribbon - 16”. Bottom ribbon - 14” on either side of “door”. Complete with red jewel “door handle.”
5. Pinwheel Topper: Trace the oval shaped container and trim slightly smaller to create the inside top. Cut dowel and paint white. Cut a small piece of oasis and adhere to bottom of tissue box inside with hot glue. Poke a hole into the centre of the white oval (which will cover the top of the oval container). Insert dowel into oval top and on into the oasis; glue white topper in place. Create the red pinwheel – 7” large and attach centre with heart brad; attach red ladybug jewel on top. Add ladybug jewel (med) on top of dowel. Adhere pinwheel to the dowel; add red polka dot flowers and jewels to embellish.
