Formed in B.C. in 2004, headliners Faber Drive released their debut album Seven Second Surgery in 2007 and were recently honoured with a JUNO Award nomination for Best New Group as well as a Canadian Radio Music Award for Best New Group (Hot A/C) of the Year. Their melodies and thought-provoking lyrics have invited comparisons to their own favourite bands U2, The Police, Def Leppard and Jimmy Eat World. Faber Drive's new single, "Sleepless Nights (Never Let Her Go)" is accompanied by an emotionally charged new video and is climbing radio charts.
One of the mentors on The Next Star, Suzie McNeil combines a magnetic stage presence with her vocal and multi-instrumental ability that includes piano, guitar and harmonica. Her smash hit "Believe" was featured on several television shows and has been chosen by Bell Canada to be the official 2010 Olympic Inspired song. Suzie's latest single "Let's Go" is the opening theme song of The Next Star.
For 11 episodes, every Friday at 6 p.m. on YTV, The Next Star has followed six young contestants as they are counseled by professionals on how to tackle every aspect of the music industry. Host Adamo Ruggiero (Degrassi: The Next Generation) and judges Suzie McNeil, Christopher Ward and Steve Cranwell, along with other industry mentors, have guided the young talent throughout their journey.
To get geared up for the final vote, YTV is giving viewers not one, but two, chances to catch up on previous episodes. On Saturday, September 27 beginning at 1 p.m. and Sunday, September 28 beginning at 12 p.m., fans can watch back-to-back episodes of the series.
