Toronto Zoo attempts Leap into Guinness Book of World Records
By: Toronto4Kids
On November 14, 2008, the Toronto Zoo is attempting to LEAP their way into the Guinness Book of World Records and they need your help to do it! 1,200 people are needed to jump for 5 minutes to break the world record. This effort is to raise awareness for the 2008 Year of the Frog and amphibian conservation.
After more than 360 million years of survival, 1/3 to 1/2 of the world's approximately 6000 known amphibian species could become extinct in our lifetime. Earth is facing the single largest mass extinction since the disappearance of dinosaurs. As a result, 2008 was named the Year of the Frog at zoos and aquariums around the world. The objective of the campaign is to build awareness and support conservation initiatives in response to the alarming global amphibian decline. As a campaign participant, Toronto Zoo has organized many events for 2008 focused on amphibian conservation since the official launch of this initiative back in February 29th, 2008.
So gather a group of family & friends and help the Toronto Zoo by getting everyone involved in pledging support to the Toronto Zoo and their work to help save endangered frogs! Help confront one of our planet's biggest environmental challenges.
There is NO ADMISSION FEE to participate and parking is FREE day of event. The Toronto Zoo invites leapers of all ages to join in this event.
