Toronto International Circus Festival By: Toronto4Kids
This is not your traditional Circus... They eat and spit fire. They juggle chainsaws, knives and fire torches. They do Houdini acts. They do Skateboards stunts while flying through burning hoops. They are skilled acrobats and artists. They perform death-defying feats. They have high energy. They are fearless. They are witty, zany and charming! Welcome to the world of Street Performers a.k.a. Buskers, and they are here to entertain young and old!
This past weekend, Toronto's Distillery Historic District was host to the annual Toronto International Circus Festival, a Free event where the best circus acrobats and street performers from around the world transform the Distillery District into the unimaginable: outrageous mind-bending daredevil stunts, incredible circus acts, and hilarious spontaneous comedy, along with live music, stilt-walkers, mimes, face-painting, balloon sculptors, great carnival food and more!
New to this year - the Festival featured a ticketed indoor Mainstage Performance with artists from Central Asia, Kenya, the USA and Canada. Audiences were delighted with astounding contortionists, hilarious plate spinning, astonishing human towers, breathtaking acrobatics, ultra-flexible hoola hoop routines, outstanding aerialists on trapeze, silks and corde lisse, and more! The unique grace, style and agility of these performers truly left the audience wanting more!
Street Theatre is fast gaining popularity and the Toronto International Circus Festival is just the venue to promote this rich cultural experience. Street Theatre is instant entertainment in an intimate and interactive setting. It allows performers to re-create their art and their audience - and, everyone shares the stage! It's an amazing experience where the community can come together to be thrilled and bewildered...
If you missed this year's performances, the Toronto International Circus Festival is a Free annual event, which usually runs in July. For more information, visit: www.TOCircusFestival.com.
