Bedtime! at YPT

Four phases of childhood told through exhilarating, high octane dance.

Montreal’s dynamic dance company Bouge de là returns to Young People’s Theatre with their high-octane dance-theatre piece Bedtime! Presented on the Mainstage from May 6th to 14th, this fantastic new production explores the phases of childhood as seen in the bedroom – a place of dreams and solitude, but also a place for exhilarating exploration and exuberant play.

With the bed as the very centre of this piece, choreographer Hélène Langevin explores four slices of life drawn from childhood where babies, children, and adolescents transform their beds into a territory of multiple possibilities. Here the bed is much more than a piece of furniture. By transforming it from an enveloping cradle to a trampoline to a place to dream, the bed becomes a touchstone for creating a moving and playful portrait of life, from birth through the teen years. Lively, fanciful, and filled with humour and poetry, Bedtime! features five remarkable performers who use amazing artistry to present the magic of childhood through the microcosm of the bed.

"In Bedtime! contemporary dance is unifying, dreamlike, and entertaining all at once." – La Presse, Montreal

All four chapters in this production open the door to the secret lives hidden in a child’s bedroom.
