In April we celebrate Mama Earth. Find crafts, programs and events that will help kids become a little more eco-conscious while having fun!


1. Sign up for a 1-Day Earth Day Nature Camp at the Humber Arboretum
With Earth Day falling on Easter Monday this year, most schools will be closed, so the Humber Arboretum is hosting a one-day Nature Camp on Monday, April 22. Kids aged 5-12 are invited to join Humber Arboretum staff for a day of ecological exploration that's full of seasonal, hands-on activities. More

In this weekly program, youngsters will explore a new nature theme each week. The format allows for consistent structure with flexible content. Parent or caregiver participation is required. Program starts April 13 and runs for 8 weeks. Fee includes park admission, so you can stay after your session and enjoy the trails at your leisure.‚Äč More


7. Make Upcycled Crafts with your Kids
The best crafts to make are upcycled kids crafts! They are practically free and they help the planet. Transform items you already have in your house to make these 10 creative projects that kids will love. More


8. Take the Kids to Treewalk Village
The kids will spend time outdoors exploring a network of tree houses and climbing structures at Bruce's Mill Conservation Park. It's a great way of getting them out and playing in nature. Due to the popularity of this attraction, it's best to reserve your time-slot ahead. More


9. Get the Nilo and Kairo Apple e-Book

10. Go to the Kids’ World of Energy Festival at Evergreen Brick Works
Wind turbines, solar cars, pinwheels, solar bracelets and more! Spend the day enjoying activities, games, and conversations focused on energy and sustainability. Free admission. The event is held April 27, 2019. More


11. Read These Earth Day Books with your Kids
A great way to discuss recycling and how to care for the planet is with a book. Start off this Earth Month by reading a book about various topics: Earth Day, the Earth, and Recycling. More


12. Take Your Kids to Nature Play in The Children’s Garden at Evergreen Brickworks
A unique and dynamic program and space where parents and guardians play with their children while co-creating a magical world of possibilities alongside a team of Nature Play Animators. April's theme is Earth Month where families explore and celebrate planet Earth and the different plants and animals which call it home. April 6 to 28. More
