Out & About

Inside the Model Railroad Club of Toronto

This weekend, we attended an open house at the Model Railroad Club of Toronto (MRCT). The crowd was full of kids, parents, and grandparents. It really was a perfect event for ‘young and old.’

Lowe’s Toronto Christmas Market

On Saturday we visited the Toronto Christmas Market at the Distillery District. The Christmas Market was beautiful and enchanting – Santa’s Lane, a carousel and ferris wheel, story tellers, brass bands, twinkling lights, European food vendors, a Christmas tree, and more.

Trains & Toys

On the weekend, we visited the Toronto Christmas Train Show and the Toy and Doll Collectors’ Show at the International Centre in Mississauga. Both events were unique outings for the entire family.

The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair

My family visited the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair on Sunday and it was one of the most unique outings we’ve had in Toronto. The Fair brings country life to the big city.

Riding the Rails in Uxbridge

On Saturday morning we took a ride along the York-Durham Heritage Railway (YDHR). The rail line is a tourist destination and mecca for train lovers (like my little boy).

Canada’s Wonderland and Camp Spooky

This weekend, we visited Canada’s Wonderland. While the park includes over 200 attractions and more than 65 thrilling rides, weekends in October feature Camp Spooky. The Halloween theme adds to the park’s fun factor.

Casa Loma

On the weekend, we made a visit to Casa Loma and explored the secret passages, tall towers, pretty gardens (my favourite), and underground tunnel (my son’s favourite).

Roundhouse Park

My little boy’s favourite place in Toronto is Roundhouse Park. The park is home to the Toronto Railway Heritage Centre, Steam Whistle Brewery, and the most interesting looking Leon’s Furniture Store.

Trinity Bellwoods Park

This past weekend we visited Trinity Bellwoods Park. The park happens to be one of our go-to-spots because it has a great playground, a splash pad to beat the heat, lots of grassy and shaded areas to have a picnic, & is adjacent to a community centre (with a fantastic toddler pool).

The Waterfront Trail

We recently took a walk along the Waterfront Trail. On a weekday morning the cool breeze from the lake made for perfect weather. The only thing missing was a picnic basket filled with tasty treats for our journey.

Sugar Beach!

Just in time for the sunshine and warm weather, I have found one of the most unique spots in the city. Sugar Beach is a sweet sanctuary in an otherwise industrial part of the city.

Doors Open TO: Great Event for Kids

Doors Open is one my favourite events in the city. Since this is my first time in Toronto with my young son, I was excited to take him to a few special spots. On Saturday morning we visited the TTC‘s Roncesvalles Carhouse.

St. Lawrence Market

The St. Lawrence Market is a food lovers paradise! Plenty of fresh seafood, all natural beef and chicken, and organic fruit and vegetables. In addition to all the great food, you can find a beautiful flower market and a unique kitchen supply shop.

Easter EGGstravanganza

The Centreville Amusement Park Easter EGGstravanganza, located on Centre Island, is a fun way to kick-off the Easter weekend! Even the Easter Bunny made an appearance!

Bata Shoe Museum

My entire family (myself, my husband, and even my little son) absolutely LOVE shoes and we thought the Bata Shoe Museum would be a fun Saturday morning activity. Plus, we saw the new exhibit called The Roaring Twenties: Heels, Hemlines, and High Spirits.

CN Tower

This past weekend, my family wanted to visit something that was emblematic of Toronto. What better way to do this than visit the CN Tower, the perfect architectural icon of the city!
