The Department of Mathematics at the University of Toronto believes that anyone can do and enjoy mathematics and that there is no such thing as a "math brain".
As such we offer a number of programs throughout the year to get kids in grades 1 - 12 interested and excited about math! Whether your child is strong in math and you are looking for something to further that love or you have a student who is not sure about their math skills and you want to encourage them to explore the subject; we have a wide range of programs that we hope will suit your student's interests.
We offer camps for students in grades 3 - 8 during the summer and over March Break, and Saturday programs in the fall and spring. These programs provide enrichment opportunities for students to show them math concepts not commonly seen in the standard curriculum.
HIGH SCHOOL PREP
If you're a student getting ready for, or just starting, high school and you need some help building your math confidence and foundational skills, our "High School Math Preparation" program can help with that.
Interested in competitions? We have a number of those open to students from grades 1 - 12.
If you're a high school student who is strong in math and wants a challenge our "Math Academy" and "Mentorship" programs provide opportunities to work with graduate students and faculty in the department on a math research topic.
We also provide opportunities for school and community groups to come spend a day with us here at the University and engage in lectures and hands-on workshops with our faculty and students.
CLASSES & PROGRAMS
In addition, we provide a number of programs throughout the year aimed at the general public and programs for inspiring "Girls in STEM."
Want a taste of some of the math concepts we have here? Our website contains an ever growing collection of resources for anyone who wants to explore mathematics in a new and exciting way.
The majority of our programs take place at the downtown campus of the University of Toronto. Some programs are free for participants, others have a fee associated with them (limited bursary applications are available for those in need).
Decimals have a point: Math can be fun! So don't be a four-sided equilateral polygon; come join us!
