Mentorhood was established in Hong Kong by two Canadians in 2009. Both of the founders graduated from the University of Toronto; Ms Lai has a MSc. in Actuarial Science and HBSc.

In Pure Math and Ms Lam is a Certified Play Therapist who majored in Economics and Statistics. By noticing the benefits of Singapore Bar Modelling method, Mentorhood has delivered this unique problem solving technique in a fun and interactive way. Students from Mentorhood have come from different backgrounds all over the world taking classes on site and online.

Based on Ontario and other international Curriculums, students’ learning journey begins with the concrete and pictorial stages, followed by the abstract stage to enable them to learn mathematics meaningfully. Students are provided with different visual ways of looking at math with the bar modelling approach. This approach encourages advanced (higher-order) thinking process, communication of mathematical ideas and problem solving.
