Optimus Learning Centre provides1-1 tutoring for students from Kindergarten through to College and University, and specializes in serving students with individualized learning needs. It is owned and operated by two experienced Special Education teachers, and all teaching staff are qualified to help students meet their own learning potential. Optimus is located in Midtown Toronto, and is open 7 days a week!

Learning Sessions at Optimus May Include:

• Individualized Review and Re-teaching of basic Math and Language skills
• Extension and Reinforcement activities in All Subjects
• Homework Support and help with Study Skills/Test Preparation
• Additional Preparation for SSAT, EQAO, OSSLT, etc.
• Coaching in Time Management, Organization, and other essential Learning Skills

The Optimus Advantage Involves a 3-part Learning Program:

1. Initial Assessment - and Preparation of Meaningful Lessons.

• An intake session includes a review of the student's school history, an analysis of their learning style, and an assessment of their ability to use skills and strategies to their own advantage.

• Tutoring programs are developed to help each student master key foundational skills in Math, Reading, and Writing, and essential Learning Skills are consistently reinforced - for use across the School Curriculum.

• An informed understanding of a student’s strengths and needs helps Optimus tutors to customize each and every lesson along the way.

2. Comprehensive Educational Support

• Individualized Instruction in all Academic Subject Areas: Math, Reading, Writing, Science/Social Studies, and French.

• Guided Practice in Literacy: Spelling/Decoding, Reading Comprehension, Structured Paragraph and Essay Writing, and Editing/Proofreading.

• Reinforcement of Learning Skills and Strategies: Homework Completion, Organization, Time Management, Note-Taking, Study Skills, Problem-Solving, Self-Advocacy, and Effective Use of Computers/Technology.

3. Consultation and Evaluation

• Professional partnerships with parents includes ongoing communication throughout each term, and progress reports and/or meetings are always available upon request.

• Parents may consult with the Optimus Team about IEP development, and preparation for Parent-Teacher Interviews, SST meetings, and IPRCs, etc.

• Contact with psychologists, teachers, and other educational professionals may also be carefully maintained throughout each term - to help monitor student progress, and to allow for increased school success.
