The Maker Bean Cafe

If you're looking for a unique activity that involves educational fun over cafe drinks and treats, then The Maker Bean Cafe is for you! This popular cafe is a collaborative work space to make, learn, explore and share, using high to low-tech tools while enjoying great drinks and food, in a warm environment. Guests can let their imaginations soar by designing and making things together from traditional arts & crafts to high-tech digital creations.

The space is open to kids, teens and adults, and gives you access to a variety of maker equipment. Drop in, get a cafe drink and taste some of Toronto's best local artisan food. Work with the staff at Maker Bean to design your own laser-cut coasters, pins, necklaces, earrings, etc., or choose one of 2.6 million 3D models and 3D print it right before your eyes. There's no need to book ahead!

Beyond drop-in activities, The Maker Bean Cafe’s offerings include:

► Camps and PA Days for kids take place afterschool and on Saturdays. These creative technology camps for kids 6 to 12 years will have them learning new things while they make friends. Topics include Robotics, Inventions, Minecraft & Video Game Programming. Kids will leave with a fun technology project they made themselves, using laser cutters, 3D printers and more! Upcoming PA Day camps will run February 14, and June 5, 2020. March Break and Summer Camps are also now open for registration.

► Kids (and adults!) can celebrate a birthday! Tech-themed parties including robotics, 3D printing, and laser cutting. The Maker Bean Cafe makes for a fun and educational spot to host your next event! Staff will lead your group through engaging maker activities that’ll have you 3D printing, laser cutting & coding your way to your next project, while enjoying an extensive food and beverage selection (or you can bring your own!).

► Maker Bean also offers workshops for parents and teens throughout the month where you can learn how to laser cut, 3D print and more.

With 2 locations (1052 Bloor St. West at Dufferin, and inside the Ontario Science Centre), you can get creative over tasty treats all over the city! Coffee, tea & snacks aren't just an afterthought at The Maker Bean Cafe as locally-roasted coffee is sourced from Propeller, with local teas from Pluck, and the freshest selection of sandwiches, salads, and pastries in the city.
