Debate Camp Canada
From improving speaking and listening skills to building self-esteem, learning to debate could have many benefits for your child. Expressing themselves verbally in front of a group builds confidence, and through debating, children can also broaden their horizons and begin to explore big ethical questions.
If 'debating' is something that appeals to your child, sign them up for camp! Debate Camp Canada offers both March Break and Summer Programs in Public Speaking and Debate.
March Break Camps
March Break programs will be held at Crescent School, 2365 Bayview Ave in Toronto from March 14 - 18. Camps run Monday to Friday (8:30AM - 4:30PM).
The day program offers Debate and Public Speaking following the United Nations model. Highlights include:
• multi-level program - all areas
• suits grades 5 - 9
• teaching / workshop ratio 1:8
• 2 - 3 rounds of debate daily
• all resources provided
• hot lunch included
• 60 spaces
A level up program is offered for experienced debaters and best suits students from grades 9 - 11. Only 30 spaces are available.
The popular Toronto day camp program now offers four weeks of summer camp. Summer dates are: JUNE 27 - 30 / JULY 4 - 8 / JULY 11 - 15 / JULY 18 - 22. Each camp of 85 campers and 12 amazing staff welcomes novice speakers who are eager to learn new skills, as well as experienced speakers who are seeking to improve their competitive debating ability. Campers are grouped by age and skill level.
The day camp program includes training in:
• Canadian and British Parliamentary Debate styles
• Delivering prepared and impromptu speeches
• Current global issues and Model UN simulations
These day camps are a fun, engaging and empowering experience and are suited to all abilities! A hot lunch is included. Summer Camp will be offered at De La Salle College, 131 Farnham Ave in Toronto. Daily bus service is available from Richmond Hill, Mississauga and Oakville.
Debate Camp Canada also offers overnight camps in Quebec and Nova Scotia. For over 14 years, overnight super camps have provided an all-inclusive, immersion experience for campers eager for skills progression in public speaking and competitive debate. These all-inclusive camps enroll 60 campers and alongside 10 amazing university-level debaters and 2 Ontario-certified teachers.
These overnight programs offer a balanced approach to learning. The program mixes an academic experience with opportunities for creativity, swimming, group outings and recreational evening programs. For Ontario campers, a direct bus service is available from the Ottawa and Montreal Trudeau Airport (YUL) to the Stanstead Quebec camp.
