ICE BREAKERS on Toronto's Waterfront

Ice Breakers 2018 will run from January 19 to February 25, with five wintertime art installations located on Queens Quay West between York Street and Spadina Avenue. A giant red bear reclining in the snow, a cosy cabin made from tree roots and a jingling wind chime constellation are just some of the installations that visitors to Toronto's downtown Waterfront can experience this winter. Power Kids: Spaces In-Between
February 4, 2018
These FREE arts workshops for children ages 7-12 begin with a tour of the gallery and conclude with an art activity, inspired by the ideas behind the current exhibition. Tours and workshops are led by Amanda Foulds, Power Kids Family Programs Coordinator and assisted by Erica Cristobal, Power Kids Teaching Assistant. In this workshop, we will select photographic images, tear them apart, and then “repair” the gaps in between with our own creative mixed-media drawing.

Ontario Family Fishing Events is a province-wide opportunity for Canadian residents to fish Ontario waters without the otherwise mandatory fishing version outdoors card. The Ontario Government designates this period as license-free: February 18-20, 2017 (12:01 a.m. Saturday to 11:59 p.m. Monday). During all other time periods, Canadian residents between the ages of 18 and 64 years must purchase a valid fishing license to legally fish in Ontario. There has never been a better time to introduce a friend to fishing!

Family Day at Colborne Lodge

Explore 19th-century innovation and creativity, city building, science, technology and design as exemplified by John Howard at Colborne Lodge. The site was built in 1837 and is located at the south end of High Park. The park’s 165 acres were originally the property of the Howard family and included the Lodge and a variety of farm outbuildings. John and Jemima Howard gifted the property to the City of Toronto to be used as a public park. On Family Day, explore hands-on science and innovation activities throughout the museum. Free admission.

Family Day at Fort York

Explore the history of Toronto and Fort York. Visit the Fort's historic kitchen and sample some baking from the hearth. Hot chocolate and a roaring fire will make this a heartwarming and memorable visit.
