Free Art Programs for Youth at AGO
Are your teens looking for fun artistic activities to fill some of their time? Explore AGO's Free After Three workshops, where youth art fans ages 14 to 25 can create, learn or dance at AGO, all for free!
Participants can enjoy tie dying, sticker making, silk screening, skateboard building, mix tape making, movie screenings and break-dancing workshops. These programs run during the Fall, Winter and Spring on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Weston Family Learning Centre. All programming is free.
Here's a sample of some of the classes offered this January and February:
Tuesdays: Drew A Blank
January 15 - February 19, 2019, 4 - 6pm
Blank Canvas will engage youth with necessary skills to help navigate creative industries, build community and themselves to find their unique voice. The program aims to introduce youth to movers and shakers in Toronto's creative scene where budding artists can find new inspiration, mentors and collaboration while being exposed to new methods of artistic expression and practices.
Kiki Lounge Wednesdays
January 16 – February 13 2019, 4-7 pm
Want to learn how to vogue dance from the legendary vogue pioneer Twysted Miyake-Mugler? These beginner level workshops will cover the five elements of vogue fem, and end weekly with a ball. The final ball will be performed in Walker Court at the AGO.
Thursdays: Risograph Print Jam
January 17 – February 21, 2019, 4–6 pm
The Risograph is an environmentally friendly printer, which uses soy-based inks to produce unique prints. Make collaborative zines, posters and collages to print on the spot with the Risograph. Get inspired by a sample library or take a load-off and read some zines!
