Thinking Camps for Kids
School will soon be out for summer but rest assured, the city is full of academic camps for little thinkers. During their summer break, kids who want to broaden their horizons, can take part in programs that cover everything from robotics to science, chemistry, math and more. And when junior scientists aren't making discoveries, they can participate in traditional camp activities such as crafts and sports. This spells a summer of FUN and learning!

JEI Learning Centre - Davisville Summer Day Camp

JEI Davisville's Summer Camp Program combines academics and activities to help kids improve their academic skills and confidence. The Summer Camp Program consists of weekly themes such as African Safari, Amazing Race, Game Shows, Mad Science, Sea Creatures, Theme Park Week, World of Sports, to name a few! Weekly field trips include the Ontario Science Center, ROM, Ripley’s Aquarium, Hockey Hall of Fame, & the Toronto Zoo. Full Day and Half Day programs available, with optional extended hours. This year's camp offerings include: June 29 to September 4, 2015 - Engineering Extravaganza and Bio Blitz (5-12 year olds). July 13-17, July 20-24 and August 10-14, August 17-21, 2015 - Science Centre Innovators (13 and 14 year olds).

Pueblo Science’s Science Summer camp offers one or two weeks of fun-filled educational activities guaranteed to lift a child’s enthusiasm for science. Intended for children finishing grades 1 to 6, the camp provides an opportunity to explore a variety of topics including chemistry, physics, biology, engineering and electronics, all in an active, exciting environment! Each day consists of a morning and afternoon session dedicated to a different topic, with breaks and outdoors activities to make the most of the day. The children will get a chance to spend some supervised time outside, have excursions to local places of interest around the university and visit labs to interact with scientist doing cutting-edge research. The goal is to encourage a lifelong love of learning and inquisitiveness through hands-on activities. Camp dates are: July 20, 2015 to August 14, 2015.

The ROM offers one of the city’s most creative and diverse summer camps with an exciting array of fun, activity-based programs inspired by the collections and research of a world-class museum. The huge variety of offerings ensures that you’ll find a program to match your child's interest and abilities. This summer, the ROM welcomes the opening of the greatly anticipated special exhibition Pompeii: In the Shadow of the Volcano. In the exhibition, over 200 treasures excavated from the actual site tell the remarkable story of the daily lives of the people of Pompeii. Summer Club campers will be fascinated to learn about this ancient city "frozen in time". Camp runs from June 29 to September 4.

Spirit of Math’s summer program offers an intensive, exciting and fun week of math enrichment based on a unique curriculum developed especially for high-performing students. This is a great way to get your brain ready for September, sample the school year after-school program, or just to meet other kids who excel at math and love a challenge! Camps run 2 weeks only in August.

Wise adventures offers a vast array of camp programs for kids ranging from art, to pottery, Lego, Animal fun and more! They also offer a specific Academics Camp where they will work with your child on an individual level to help them excel. The program will include Math, Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Spelling. The week is spent helping your child with specific areas they struggle with. Short consultation will be set with the parents to understand needs and expectations.
