Startup Arckit Launches STEM and Design Tools for Budding Architects

Arckit, the multi-award winning architectural model building kit and STEM tool is back on the scene with their first ever Kickstarter campaign. The Kickstarter is almost at their goal, currently sitting at 87% funded with just a few days to go.

For the first time ever, Arckit Cityscape and Arckit Masterplan will give anyone complete control to build their very own dream city from scratch. From developing suburban neighborhoods to downtown skyscrapers, city parks to piazzas, designers of all ages can experience what it’s like to be a real architect or city planner. Arckit allows you to create your own miniature model worlds complete with subtle colours and graphics – then stand back to marvel at a true 3D perspective of your masterpiece. The ultimate in minimalist and ‘museum-worthy’ architectural kits, Arckit is perfect for anyone who is mesmerized by architecture and models – from budding creators and regular users to designers and professionals. If you’ve ever walked around a city and looked up in amazement, if you are transfixed by maps and top-down games or just love the look of stunning architectural models, then Arckit takes this experience to a whole new level.

The twelve new products include four versions of Arckit Cityscape, each with unique components inspired by iconic styles of world architecture. These kits come in a choice of white or subtle pastels with prices starting as low as $24.99. More experienced makers can also choose from Cityscape XL, Cityscape XXL, Masterplan and Masterplan Pro. All of the products are compatible with each other, giving users the flexibility to turn a thriving city centre into a sprawling metropolis.

Arckit was founded by Irish architect Damien Murtagh. After the recession hit in 2008, Murtagh decided that fabricating scale models to show to his clients was too expensive--especially because the model would often get thrown out after the contract ended. He created Arckit as a way to build and re-build his models.

The original Arckit launched back in 2014 and completely revolutionized the traditional architects’ model. Their patented system has won them multiple awards and is stocked globally in prestigious retailers and design museums such as The Smithsonian & Guggenheim museums in NY, Barnes & Noble, and many stores worldwide.

A modular STEM tool for students, Arckit is used as a highly beneficial educational tool in tech and design schools worldwide. It is used by many schools worldwide and is seen as a STEM/design tool for kids.
