Coral Reef Adventure
Immerse yourself in the soul of the sea and explore the most diverse, fascinating and mysterious underwater landscapes and creatures on Earth as Coral Reef Adventure returns to the Ontario Science Centre, the latest addition to their featured films lineup.
Narrated by Liam Neeson, and featuring songs written and recorded by Crosby, Stills & Nash, this immersive IMAX® film follows the real-life expedition of ocean explorers as they document the health and beauty of the coral reef in the sun-drenched waters of the South Pacific.
From Australia’s Great Barrier Reef to the extraordinary beauty of Tahiti, Coral Reef Adventure examines a world few human beings will ever experience up close, yet one that helps sustain the very balance of life -- and may even contain unforeseen solutions to human medical problems. With its inspiring human tale of courage and hope, Coral Reef Adventure reveals the global dedication behind growing efforts to protect and sustain reefs for future generations.
“Coral reefs are among the most important and sensitive ecosystems on Earth,” explains Maurice Bitran, PhD, CEO and Chief Science Officer of the Ontario Science Centre. “Through an international scientific enterprise featuring relentless exploration and stunning underwater images, Coral Reef Adventure brings the significance and sustainability of coral reefs into sharp focus.”
Following a 10-month quest across the Pacific Ocean to daring and record-breaking depths, Coral Reef Adventure reveals a vast array of unusual creatures and introduces the scientists and everyday heroes on their critical mission to unravel the mysteries -- and study the health -- of coral reefs.
“Our film was born out of passion for the world’s oceans,” says Greg MacGillivray. “Husband and wife cinematography team Howard and Michele Hall have taken the IMAX® camera into the vast underwater worlds that are absolutely vital to our survival as a species. Their story is one not only of great human adventure, but of real hope for the future of the reefs.”
