Kids! Draw funny animals! Parents! Help your kid start drawing, and learn the alphabet! Expand the use of your iPhone or iPad. All you need to get started is pen and paper, and the app.

The goal with Drawnimal is to expand your device by using simple tools like pen and paper. Drawnimal motivates the children to draw around the device and encourages them to think outside of the box. The app helps them to leave the digital screen with a simple physical interaction. It shows the children how to draw the main features of animals. The funny animations motivate them to learn the alphabet.

"The idea was born while my daughter and I played with an alphabet book. This book showed us how to build an origami-animal out of a paper letter. I wanted to bring a similar analog and funny learning experience to our daily digital devices." - Lucas Zanotto, Designer/Animator

• Available for iPhone and iPad

Compatibility: Requires iOS 6.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. This app is optimized for iPhone 5.

How It Works:

Place your iPhone on any surface you can draw on.

Draw around the iPhone as shown on the screen.

Press OK to call up the animal!

Tap the screen for a little surprise!

Each letter of the alphabet is represented by an adorable animated animal (an alligator for A, a bear for B, a cat for C, etc). Once you choose your letter from the app’s grid, DRAWNIMAL shows your child how to draw that critter’s main features, like their pointy ears or spiky tail. When the doodling is done, a simple tap of the screen reveals the animal’s cute face. Then, with round, wild eyes blinking and darting, and some creatures even snoring, croaking, or meow-ing, your child’s drawing comes to life!
