Halloween Events 2016




The days finally have a fall crispness to them, the leaves are changing,and front steps are flickering with the glow of carved pumpkins at night.It's time to plan for Halloween! There is a lot of spooky fun and not-so-spooky fun to be had, from costume parades, parties, shows and pumpkin festivals. Take the kids to a few of these Halloween activities and events for families.

Camp Spooky at Canada's Wonderland

It's the 50th Anniversary of It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and Canada's Wonderland is celebrating in with the ultimate fall festival - Camp Spooky! This family-friendly daytime event is held every Saturday and Sunday in October and includes Halloween-themed live entertainment, three mazes, trick-or-treating, and so much more! Your favourite rides will be open during the day, including KidZville and Planet Snoopy kids' areas. Halloween Train at York-Durham Heritage Railway
October 22, 2016 to October 30, 2016
Each year, the Greater Toronto Area’s only tourist railway runs its very popular family Halloween Trains. On board the decorated trains are ghosts, ghouls, and other entertainment for young and old alike. Trains operate from the Uxbridge and Stouffville stations and have lots of Halloween activities. All children (aged up to 12 years) dressed in their best and scariest Halloween costumes will travel for $1  Weekends: October 22 & 23, 2016 and October 29 & 30, 2016. ​TSO's Symphony Spooktacular
October 22, 2016
A family concert. Celebrate Halloween with the TSO! Featuring spooky classical favourites and toe-tapping, sing-at-the-top-of-your-lungs tunes such as “Let it Go” from Frozen and “The Teddy Bears’ Picnic”, this concert will appeal to all boys and ghouls. Be sure to come in costume to help the Orchestra get into the Halloween spirit! Suitable for children ages 5 to 12. 2 shows: 2pm and 4pm. Come to the concert half an hour early for a special pre-concert performance by the Yonge Guns Quartet in the lobby! More info

Gills & Ghouls at Ripley's Aquarium
October 29, 2016 to October 30, 2016
Our spook-tacular Gills & Ghouls Halloween event is back again this year! The aquarium will be transformed into a creepy cove filled with everything that screams Halloween! Children that swim by will receive a reusable fish-or-treat bag to use at each of our giveaway stations: pencils, crayons, colouring books, and candy (while quantities last). There will be live performers throughout the entire aquarium, including a mermaid, merman, witch, and pirate, just to name a few! Check out an underwater pumpkin carving at one of our live dive shows starting at 11:15am. It’s ‘shore’ to be a ghoulish good time. More info

City of the Dead: The Necropolis Cemetery Tour at Mackenzie House
October 16, 2016 to October 23, 2016
A drama-enhanced walk in one of Toronto's oldest and most historic cemeteries. Highlights include the graves of Mackenzie and other prominent figures. Hear stories of murder, heartbreak and great perseverance. After the walk, participants are invited to return to Mackenzie House for a tour and some light refreshments. The Necropolis Cemetery is located at 200 Winchester Street, the west side of the Don Valley near Riverdale Farm.

Bring your Jack-O-Lanterns to light up Mimico Square and Amos Waites Park on Tuesday November 1st beginning at 6pm. Please bring your own lighter and candles. Volunteers will load the pumpkins into bins for composting the following morning.

Old Town Toronto Halloween Pumpkin Parade
November 1, 2016
November 1st, bring your jack-o-lantern to the St. James gazebo from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and join the pumpkin parade by adding your pumpkin onto the edge of a pathway. A prize will be given for best pumpkin design by a family/kid and by a business. There will be free hot chocolate and hot apple cider while supplies last. Free admission.
