Day Camps & Programs for Kids if CUPE Strikes on Monday

In the event of a CUPE strike on Monday, parents need to prepare and make alternative care arrangements for children who might be out of school. A number of camps and programs are being set up, in case of a strike

The following companies will be offering pop up day camps and programs:

Big Top School of Circus Arts in Newmarket will be offering camps during the strike. Highlights include Stilts • Tight Wire • Rolla-Bolla • Trampoline • Swinging Ladder • Hand Balancing • Juggling Trapeze • Flying Trapeze. Follow the information on their PA Day Camps page for details on the camps.

Hub Climbing Mississauga and Hub Climbing Markham will offer a pop up full day camp (9 to 4) with arts, crafts, games, augmented reality climbing and climbing sessions. Space is limited and children must be registered in advance. If the school closure does not happen full refunds will be provided. In both cases, site will be open for registration by noon on Saturday, October 5. You must register. Drop-offs cannot be accommodated.

Toronto Athletic Camp (TAC Sports) will be holding GTA Strike camp in Thornhill and North York.

Of Rock and Chalk in Newmarket is offering daily and weekly Camps running every day that the strike is on from 8am to 3pm with extended hours available. Sibling discount available. For ages 4-12

Just Bounce Trampoline Club is offering a day camp at both their North York and Newmarket locations.

Electric Moon Theatre Company will be offering full day theatre workshops during the strike. Programs all are set up for registration online.

Groove Creative Arts Centre is offering childcare throughout the CUPE Strike, with dance, drama, music and arts activities, plus magic and science shows.

Various Glama Gal Kids Spa locations will be offering day camps next week. Spots will be on a first come first serve basis and run from 9am to 4pm. Reptilia in Vaughan and Whitby will be running a Strike Day camp.

Air Riderz in Vaughan, Aurora and Mississauga is offering a full day camps from 9:00am to 4:00pm (8am start available). All parks are open all day 10am to 6pm.

Krudar Muay Thai Kids is offering a Strike Day Camp. Kids will get a chance to try Muay Thai boxing, learn some new moves, and see what it's like to train like a champion! The day will be filled with group exercise, games, challenges, and even some graffiti art! Register online.

Evergreen Brickworks in Toronto is running its “Evergreen Adventure Camp”.

Kidnetix Indoor Playground is running a School Strike Camp in 2 locations: Yorkdale and Brampton.

Pawsitively Pets is holding a Strike camp at it’s Leaside location (wait-listed) and it's Beaches site - Waverley Road Baptist Church.

NTR Hockey School in Richmond Hill is holding a Discover Strike Program for skaters with or without hockey experience.

Northlea United Church located in North Leaside, will be holding a Strike Day Camp on Monday and Tuesday from 9-5. Crafts, theatre and play, as well as kid friendly science experiments. Ages 5-9, limited space available. $50 a day.

Active Kids Zone in North York will be offering their Holiday camp program.

Valour Mixed Martial Arts & Fitness Club in Markham will be cancelling its classes and will run a camp to help families that are affected. The cost of this camp will be a discounted rate of $30.00 with Before and After care options available.

Variety Villiage in Toronto will be offering a camp for kids with special needs (limited number of spaces available.)

ViBE Dance & Fitness Studio in Thornhill has a “Camp Vibe” running on Monday in the event of a strike.

Treehouse Play Centre in Richmond Hill will run Special Camp Days. See their FB page for details.

The Little Artist Toronto is offering half day and full day programs “Art Days” for kids in the event of a strike.

The City of Vaughan is offering city day camps during October school closures at the Vaughan Community Centre, for ages 6 to 12.

​UrbanPark Indoor Playland will be offering a Strike Camp in Aurora.

Kid’s Cuckoos Nest in Aurora will be providing care for kids ages 5 to 12, between 9:00am - 5:00pm.

Canadian Children’s Theatre Co. in Aurora will be running a theatre camp however spaces are limited.

Non Supervised Drop-in Programs during the strike:

If you're looking for an activity, The Clay Room will be open on Monday (the studio is usually closed on Mondays). This is not a camp but the studio will be open for ceramic painting from 11am to 6pm, if a strike occurs.

Archery Circuit will be hosting drop in sessions during weekdays from 10am to 1pm.
