The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) Comes to You
The Royal Ontario Museum is joining a growing list of Toronto attractions that are offering a wide range of free virtual programming, activities and self-guided tours.
While the ROM may be closed, you can still visit the Museum's top ten must-see items virtually, curated by visitors, summer campers and museum staff. From the distant past to the depths of space, there's a little something for everyone on the Greatest Hits tour.
Every Thursday from 10:00 am-5:00 pm, you can Ask ROM Anything! That's right! Time for little inquisitive minds to get all their questions answered. Ever wonder what makes a gem a gem? Or what birds are common to Central Ontario? Find out the answers to your questions and even some you didn’t ask, during the weekly Ask ROM Anything. This will happen on the ROM's Instagram Page.
You can also tune in every week on Instagram as ROMKids Coordinator Kiron Mukherjee combines his passion for children’s education with storytelling to bring to life science, history and art for the entire family, in the comfort of your own home. Tuesdays from 2:00 to 2:30 pm.
Families can conquer their fear of spiders and ignite their curiosity with fascinating insights into what makes these eight-legged creatures so special on the Spiders in Our Backyard page, written by ROM Entomologist Brad Hubley.
Kids can even Make a Mummy Case! For Ancient Egyptians, the journey to the afterlife was the most important one of all, and becoming a well-provisioned mummy could help you get there. Follow the instructions to make a mini version of a cartonnage mummy case and discover one of the ways the Ancient Egyptians prepared for the journey to the afterlife.
And if you're looking for other resources the ROM is offering, check out their Learn & Activities page.
