Egg Decorating... The Natural Way

What would Easter be without decorating and coloring eggs? Did you know that there are many homemade dyes you can use to decorate your eggs naturally?

To get started, you need hard-boiled eggs or blown eggs, and the following:

• Various food and plant items for colouring (see chart below)

• Sauce pans for each colour

• Slotted spoon

• Strainer

• Cooking oil

• Soft cloth

Pour 1/2 cup of water in each saucepan. Add cut-up fruit, vegetables, or plants (carrots, blueberries, grass, coffee, etc.). Bring to a boil and simmer until water turns colour you like. Remove from heat and strain reserving water. When water has cooled add boiled or blown eggs. Let sit until they turn the desired color. Remove with slotted spoon and allow them to dry. Polish with small amount of cooking oil and soft cloth.
