These Family Ski Resorts Are Preparing To Reopen

Lockdown measures are gradually easing in Ontario and these ski resorts are preparing to re-open safely ― once their public health units transition back to the province's colour-coded COVID-19 reopening framework.

There is some concern that many from the 'stay at home' zones will flock to these resorts and it is recommend that you abide by local Public Health guidelines which includes limiting non-essential and interzone travel ― in other words, 'play at home!'

Resorts will be re-opening safely with strict guidelines in-place, and many are further tweaking their health & safety protocols to ensure that hills are safe for all.

If you're thinking of hitting the slopes with your family, here's what you need to know before heading out.

Blue Mountain Resort

Blue Mountain is Ontario’s largest mountain resort, nestled on the shores of Georgian Bay, and located 90 minutes north of Toronto. Reopening is planned for Tuesday, February 16. Masks need to be worn at all times, guests must follow the one-way and two-way signage, and keep a distance of 2 meters from other skiers. To manage capacities, Blue Mountain will prioritize access to its members and those who had already purchased advanced passes. Tickets will need to be purchased in advance - no walk-ins. BM has also created a chart to help you spend more time on the hill and less time in lift lines. This helps you choose a quiet ski time to ensure you have space on and off the hill. At this time, Blue Mountain is only offering private and semi-private lessons.
